My experience spans in-house, agency and editorial roles, and have included global responsibility for creative direction, brand and brand strategy, budget responsibility, advertising, digital, PR, brand partnerships, art direction of photography, copywriting, innovation, packaging, retail design, visual merchandising, editorial and content strategy and creation, across all media formats and customer touch-points.
I am an Executive Creative Director with over 20 years experience spanning in-house, agency and editorial roles, including global responsibility for creative direction, brand strategy, digital, advertising, art direction, packaging, retail design and editorial/content creation across all media formats. The greatest part of my career has been spent working with leading premium, fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands.
DURING THE PAST TWO DECADES I have been fortunate to work with some of the most successful brands in the world, and with teams and people that I admire and that inspire me. The majority of my work is focused around lifestyle, fashion and beauty. Some of the brands have been luxury brands, others perhaps less highbrow, but I always aim to create beautiful and inspiring work that elevates each of the brands. I like brands that have a clear direction, are driven by emotion, and are aspirational within their respective marketplace. I believe that at the heart of all good creative work there always needs to be a strategy and an idea - a guiding thought or a principle. Furthermore I believe that the choice of media is truly secondary.
BETWEEN 2013 and 2014 I held the position as Head of Creative for M&S.com at Marks & Spencer. I headed up the 40 plus strong in-house digital creative and imagery team and was responsible for the creative and design direction, idea generation and execution of design, imagery and content across all M&S’ digital channels, spanning over 50 territories – .com, international websites, mobile, email, affiliate and external marketing/media.
BETWEEN 2006 and 2012 I was the Executive Creative Director at Hotel Chocolat, a British luxury chocolatier, cocoa grower and retailer. During my time there the company grow from just a few UK stores to over 70 stores internationally, and an actual hotel in Saint Lucia. I played a key role as an executive member on the board responsible for brand strategy, PR and all creative output of the main brand and it’s affiliates – including digital, print, store and packaging. In 2008 Hotel Chocolat was awarded the No.1 position on The Sunday Times "Fast Track 100" list and in 2012 Hotel Chocolat was voted the "Most Advocated British Brand in the UK" by Marketing Week.
BEFORE AND AFTER Hotel Chocolat and M&S I have worked with numerous other brands, magazines and agencies. Most notably on three editions of Vogue; the advertising agency Leagas Delaney where in the role of Executive Creative Director I worked mainly on Patek Phillippe and Penfolds; as Creative Director of FACE Stockholm, which was listed by US Vogue as one of the five most influential beauty brands in the US at the time; and at other boutique agencies and as a consultant for numerous leading lifestyle brands.
