Over the past two decades I have been fortunate to work with some of the most successful and influential brands in the world, and with clients and people that continuously inspire and keep pushing me forward. In Reflections I look back at time well spent.
REFLECTIONS #001 – NOT ON THE HIGH STREET
A NEW WAY TO COMMUNICATE VISION & VALUES
Notonthehighstreet.com is a unique and award winning British online marketplace aiming to shine a spotlight on 5,000 of the UK’s best small creative businesses. Since it was founded in 2006 it has had over 3 million loyal customers, and has made in excess of £1billion in sales.
In the spring of 2017 I joined the team at Not on the High Street, as they needed support with their creative direction, strategy and design direction. But, more importantly, the brand needed a new way to communicate its vision and values to its customers and partners.
The solution was the creation of Gifted, a new digital and printed magazine. The idea for Gifted came out of a conversation between Hannah Webley-Smith, the then Customer Director, and myself. We spoke at length about her previous experience launching a magazine with Liz Earle, and the work I did for M&S, launching their digital editorial platform Style & Living.
With a lot of hard work by the internal team and support of the leadership at Not on the High Street, Gifted was created and successfully launched over the next few weeks. It took less than a month from inception to launch, and the positive response massively exceeded our expectations, both in terms of commercial returns and the enhanced brand equity. ■
